It’s war on the dancefloor as Kian and Jodie take on Strictly
Ex-Westlife singer and wife Jodi to join celebrity line-up for big-budget show that ITV bosses hope will rival Strictly!
KIAN Egan and his wife Jodi will team up with ITV for a new show that will rival the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The Irish Mail on Sunday has learned that the former Voice of Ireland coach has been targeted for a new big-budget programme, Dance Dance Dance.
The new show will pit six famous faces and their partners in a danceoff, and is due to air in 2017.
The celebrity couples will recreate iconic routines from movies, music videos and West End shows.
So far the line-up is a closely guarded secret, but Kian and Jodi are the first high-profile couple to provisionally agree to participate.
It will be the first time that they have signed up to a reality series together despite turning down several previous offers.
‘The show is a format that has been created by Talpa, the same company that conceived The Voice, so Kian has an established relationship there,’ a well-placed source revealed.
‘It is a six-part show with a couple getting voted out each week so it is not as big a commitment for them as you would have to make with Strictly.
‘It is also a more contemporary style of dance and will hopefully appeal to a younger generation of people.’
The source added: ‘Kian and Jodi are household names especially after I’m a Celebrity... so they are perfect for the show. They obviously believe in the format and are happy to take part in the debut series.’
The move will rule out Kian and Jodi from appearing on the Irish version of Dancing with the Stars.
‘I would imagine that they will still base themselves in Sligo as they have a young family and just commute for the live shows,’ said the source.
‘He had been tipped for Dancing with the Stars but he has been on ITV’s radar for some time now and it was just about getting a show that suited him.’
