Kane’s wait for 50th Spurs goal goes on as

- By Kieran Gill

ANOTHER appearance in August, another goalless game from Harry Kane.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker has not scored in this month after 10 matches.

And his latest against Liverpool means he must wait even longer for his 50th goal in the Premier League.

At White Hart Lane yesterday, last season’s top goalscorer never got close to his halfcentury — and the England international’s drought now stretches back to the end of last season, in May.

Among the conspiracy theories as to why the 23-year-old has not scored since that game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is that the weight of the T-shirt under his Tottenham kit is holding him back.

Kane, in all likelihood, is not the type to wear a ‘50’ vest in the hope that he can show it off in front of his supporters but Tottenham’s fans would like to find out – and soon.

Yet one man who is not unduly worried is his boss, Mauricio Pochettino.

The Tottenham manager remembers it took his striker until late September to score his first goal of last season, and yet Kane still ended up with 25 to his name, to top the scoring charts.

That won him the Premier League Golden Boot and Pochettino, jokingly, is banking on it happening again.

‘It’s a good sign he didn’t score,’ the Spurs boss said.

‘Last season he scored in game 10 and was the top scorer in the Premier League. I will sign up again to do the same.’

Kane will have to wait for his 50th, then, with a trip to the Britannia
