Vogue: My booty needed work

- By Niamh Walsh

VOGUE Williams is muscling in on the Millennials for her new RTÉ show; and one piece of expert advice is to work on her booty.

Taking an inside look at the modern obsession with the body beautiful and the lengths people go to get it, the presenter signed up for a bodybuilding competition.

Female events are increasingly popular after the Irish federation introduced a bikini division.

So as part of the series Vogue Williams – On The Edge, RTE 2 Tuesday at 9.30pm, she enlisted 28-year-old Jessi Kavanagh to help her through her routines.

And even though Vogue is an avid gym user, she had to go that extra mile to get her body bikini ready for the competition.

Jessi, Ireland’s top bodybuilder, has previously warned that the booty needs a lot of work.

‘One of the main areas you are judged on in the bikini category is the muscular development of your booty – so this always gets extra attention,’ she said. ‘I went through the diet with her first. You have to have a really low level of body fat, as that is required to get your body “stage ready” and really show off your muscular development.’

She also gave her tips on how to highlight her muscles. ‘I explained to her that under the lights you are completely washed out, so you need to be as dark as you can. Fake tan defines your muscles so the judges can see the definition.’

She said: ‘I just really love doing it; training for competitions, it really drives me. The diet can be hard, but you really challenge yourself.’

Vogue has become one of Ireland’s leading personalities and on Friday night’s Late Late Show she revealed that she had bagged a big UK show, which is rumoured to be I’m A Celeb.
