THE QUESTIONS

-

When was the Gmail account set up? Was it prior to his appointment as Taoiseach in 2011? How regularly does the Taoiseach use the Gmail account? Is the Gmail account accessible from Mr Kenny’s personal phone? Is Mr Kenny’s Oireachtas email address linked to Mr Kenny’s personal phone? Has the Taoiseach ever used the Gmail account ******** @gmail.com for official Government business. Has Mr Kenny ever used the Gmail account ******** @gmail.com for local constituency business – either his own, or in response to representations from other political representatives. Does the Taoiseach use the Gmail account for Fine Gael business? Have any Government documents ever been sent (by Mr Kenny, his staff or anybody else) to this Gmail account. Or from this Gmail account to other parties? If so, what kind of documents? What level of secrecy is attached to these documents, and is there any restriction on documents that can and can’t be sent to or from the account owing to their sensitivity? We’d like to ask questions about security. Given previous hacks in 2011 on a Gmail account run by the head of Garda Cybercrime, which held crucial information about the investigation of an Irish hacker that the FBI wanted to extradite; does Mr Kenny believe it is appropriate to use a Gmail account for sensitive Government issues, if he has done so? Would the Gmail address ******** @gmail.com be eligible to be accessed through the Freedom of Information Laws? If not, does Mr Kenny feel it’s appropriate for him to be using the account, given the fact it could rise to a potential perception he was using the account to circumvent FOI legislation? Even if this is not the purpose Mr Kenny uses the account for, the potential perception could have the effect of undermining the FOI laws.
