DANCING With The Stars contestant Katherine Lynch is set to dazzle tonight’s dancefloor with a samba performance.
The comedian, who will perform to Abba’s hit Voulez Vous, has revealed that she lost more weight practising her dancing than she did taking part in Celebrity Operation Transformation last year.
‘I have lost more weight shaking my booty on TV this time around,’ Katherine told Irish Mail on Sunday. ‘I’m still the biggest girl in the competition but I don’t mind having my curves. For the Samba, it means I can shake my booty a little bit more. I just really feel my mojo is there and I feel really great.
‘If it hadn’t been for taking part in Operation Transformation, then I wouldn’t have been fit enough to take part in Dancing With The Stars. ‘Dancing is the best way to physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing that I have ever experienced in my life. I feel so alive right now – it’s wonderful.’ Katherine says she is working hard to stay in the competition.
‘Some of the others have experience when it comes to dancing but the likes of myself and Dr Eva would have zero so I suppose we have to work that bit harder than the others.’
Katherine’s dance partner, 21year-old Kai Widdrington from Southampton, has set tongues wagging on social media as to whether or not he is single, but Katherine is remaining tight-lipped.
‘Kai is an absolute dish and we have been getting on like a house on fire. There appears to be some budding romances off-screen so watch this space for that.’
Kai is no stranger to reality TV, having taken part in Britain’s Got Talent, and he is a ballroom champion.
‘Last week, I had to perform first and, being honest with you, it’s scary as hell. We only find out on the night who is up first, so that was a little daunting, but I have been getting good feedback from the judges.’
Katherine says her production company will team up with model Vogue Williams in the coming months on some exciting projects. Dancing with the Stars airs tonight at 6.30pm on RTÉ One. sean.dunne@mailonsunday.ie
