HER MOTHER Miriam O’Callaghan is one of the country’s best known broadcasters. And her father Tom McGurk has an unrivalled reputation as one of our finest sports commentators.

So it is perhaps unsurprising that Jessica McGurk has chosen a career in television.

But while her parents are two of Ireland’s most recognisable faces, Jessica, 24, has opted for a job behind the cameras.

The Irish Mail on Sunday has learned that Jessica has landed a job with production company Shinawil as a researcher.

Hitting the ground running, she has been working on three of the biggest shows of the year.

Jessica graduated from UCD in 2015 and has since been forging a career in the entertainment industry.

She began work as an intern with Larry Bass’s Shinawil before landing a full-time position. She also interned with top designer Paul Costello.

As a researcher with Shinawil, Jessica has appeared in the credits of Dancing With The Stars, currently a huge ratings hit for RTÉ. She has also been cooking up some background culinary drama on TV3’s Celebrity MasterChef. In addition to this, Jessica was also checking out the best homes in Ireland for RTÉ’s Celebrity Home Of The Year.

Jessica is one of four daughters from Miriam’s first marriage to journalist and broadcaster Tom McGurk. Presenter Miriam also has four sons from her marriage to BBC Northern Ireland’s head of news Steve Carson.
