A royal role for Robbie Fox’s girl
Megan’s date at Kensington Palace
RESTAURATEUR Robbie Fox may mix with rock royalty – but his daughter Megan has a number of real royal engagements coming up.
Up-and-coming director Megan K Fox, pictured right, will be mixing with the upper echelons of British society next week as she has been asked to film the Bafta Nominees dinner at Kensington Palace – after her talents were spotted by Bafta bosses.
And just a few weeks later she will also be rubbing shoulders with British politicians as her film Girl will be screened in the House of Commons to an audience of peers and politicians. The movie about homelessness has won a slew of awards, including the Women in Film & Television UK Lifetime Shorts Competition in December.
And while her father Robbie is usually at every A-List event, this one is so exclusive even he can’t be there: ‘It’s an invite only, so unfortunately Dad can’t come,’ she revealed.
Megan’s movie will also be screened at the Chicago Irish Film Festival in March, and she has generally been dazzling industry heavyweights in the UK and abroad. Her first film, Battle, which she wrote and directed in college, will be screened here next year, and she has also been commissioned to write her first feature film in London
Megan said her childhood influenced her interest in the arts.
‘I suppose in some ways it fed into the ways I make my films. My family do have ties to the film industry, so I suppose I was influenced. But I am happy behind the camera and writing. Writing is my passion.’
