Travel TREATS

- By Eddie Coffey Travel@mailonsunday.ie

EASTER HOLIDAY BREAK: A tempting Easter offer has just landed in. Seven nights in Morocco, all-inclusive, departing April 15. Club Med Agadir with childminding, spa relaxation, historic city walks. A little bit of golf, tennis or horse-riding! All, including flights from Dublin, for €1,449pp. See sunway.ie.

MARCO’S NEW MOVE: We are becoming more and more familiar with the culinary exploits of Marco Pierre White via his two restaurants in Dublin and his colourful appearance on The Restaurant which is filmed in one of his outlets. If you’re a fan, you might be interested to note that MPW is opening a steakhouse bar and grill on the rooftop of the new Hotel Indigo in Cardiff. So for the next rugby weekend, chalk it down for the Friday night!

PROFITABLE WALK: There are (very unwise) people who think that golf is a waste of time and money. A good walk spoiled, according to one scribe. Well, north of the border alone, golf tourism is currently worth €32m a year and Tourism NI wants to bring that to €50m by 2020. Profitable waste!

IS THIS A DREAM HOLIDAY?: A holiday with beautiful weather, jaw-dropping landscapes and delightful restaurants is what dreams are made of. Lake Garda has long been a favourite holiday destination, with beautiful scenery, lots to see and do, and an attractive climate throughout the summer. Crystal Summer has a good deal at the moment: Depart June 3, stay at the 2* Hotel Miravalli, Garda, on a B&B basis from €499pp.

WELL DONE SHANNON: Top marks to Shannon Airport where the first European airport sensory room developed for children and adults with neurodevelopmental challenges, including autism, was opened this week. It includes an aquatic bubble, undulated wavy wall, colour-changing LEDs, wheel projector and more.
