THE Bill Cullen version of The Apprentice is long gone but its legacy lives on, as two former contestants tied the knot this week.

Niamh McDonald and Will McCreevy met on the show in 2010. Despite being ‘fired’ by Bill, they hired each other on a lifetime contract in front of family and friends in Wexford.

The couple tied the knot in a summer festival-style wedding organised largely by Niamh, who now works for social media giant, Facebook.

After a sumptuous meal, much dancing and a few drinks, the happy couple treated their guests to a late-night pizza delivery – bringing 32 steaming pies into their wedding marquee.

Another former Apprentice contestant, Kieran Walsh, did the duties as Best Man.

And Will, it seems, did very well out of that much-loved TV series as he’s still in business with Kieran, running National Beauty Distribution together. The company is an importer and wholesaler of beauty and cosmetics products.

The Mail on Sunday was first to reveal that the newly-weds were dating when we spotted them on a cinema date.

In an interview with the MoS in 2011, Niamh said: ‘It’s a new thing so we really didn’t want to say anything, but it just got to the stage where we were lying to people all the time and we really didn’t want that.’

Will told the MoS he loved being on The Apprentice, saying: ‘I had a great time and met a great bunch of people. And I came out with two relationships – business and personal.’

The Irish version of The Apprentice ran for four seasons with car dealer Bill Cullen – a former market seller from inner city Dublin – dropping the famous phrase ‘You’re fired!’ with glee at hapless contestants.

They competed for the position of Mr Cullen’s apprentice and tasks included designing healthy sandwiches, running a newspaper advertising campaign, and creating an app for Unislim.

Niamh made it all the way to the final but was pipped at the post by Michelle Massey for the coveted title and a position with Bill.

And by the time the final series aired in 2011, the newly-weds were already dating.
