Are One Direction calling it a day?

- By Eoin Reynolds

IN the latest sign that the world’s most famous boy band One Direction have reached the end of the road, the boys have shut down their touring company.

The closure of Rollcall Touring Ltd has prompted insiders to whisper there’s no coming back for Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik who have launched solo careers. Some may one day seek a reunion... but as each is worth €56m, there’s no rush.

Niall Horan’s career has surprised some and delighted others with big hits such as This Town, Slow Hands and Too Much To Ask from his debut album Flicker, which was released last month.

Harry Styles, meanwhile, has been airbrushing his boyband persona past as he looks to display an edgier rock and ballad style with his solo work – and the fans seem to like it.

The boys have been busy in their private lives too, with Louis Tomlinson having a child with stylist Briana Jungwirth, Liam Payne having a baby, named Bear, with X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, and Zayn going public with his model girlfriend Gigi Hadid in a glitzy magazine photo shoot. Zayn also put pen to paper to write his autobiography.

When Louis performed on The X Factor just days after the death of his mum Johannah Deakin last December, the poignant moment and beautiful song left viewers and 1D fans in tears.
