Rachel Cusk Faber €23.79
The final volume in Cusk’s trilogy coolly scrutinises the self-absorbed types who inhabit the literary world. The book is composed of eloquent monologues, artfully delivered by the characters the avid, attentive narrator Faye encounters at a literary festival. Brexit lurks in the background, and everything from families and relationships to pets and feminism is discussed with intellectual ardour – but without a great deal of feeling. Faye brings a judgmental froideur to the book that is less than appealing.
