SHOP AROUND AS HEALTH COVER WAR HEATS UP

Don’t be lulled into not shopping around for health cover after recent VHI price decreases, says health insurance expert Dermot Goode of Totalhealthcover.ie.

Two adults on the old Plan D (Health Plus Premium) will be better off by €680. A retired couple on the old Plan B Options (Health Plus Extra) could save €440. But they could be better off shopping around.

‘All the health insurers have good deals. Laya are still very competitive when you factor in orthopaedic care. Irish Life Health have announced further rate reductions on most of their schemes from June 12... There has been no further response from Laya yet, but I’d watch this space.’
