Connacht’s royal tweet flop

IT’S not hard to understand why there was somewhat of a vitriolic reaction to Connacht Rugby’s tweet in the build up to yesterday’s Royal Wedding. ‘Hey Meghan and Harry, on the off chance you take our name tomorrow will you at least spell it right? There’s two season tickets going if you do,’ they wrote above a photoshopped picture of the couple in Connacht polo shirts using the official hashtag for maximum effect. It didn’t go viral as they were hoping – as of yesterday there were a mere 84 retweets and 276 likes, the sort of numbers a dancing cat would notch within seconds.
