ROOFERS ON THE FIDDLE!

Roofers are among the least trusted workers, according to a recent survey in Which? magazine. Scammers often quote for roof work, often targeting elderly people, as it’s so hard to inspect what they are doing – or even to know for sure if any work is really needed. However, there are many reputable roofers too, says Ollie Dempsey head of www.tradesmen.ie, a website where tradespeople offer their services ‘I can completely understand the results of that survey. We are using increasing levels of screening all the time but no system is perfect. As well as the normal safety tips for hiring a tradesman, I would also suggest having the work specified and supervised by a building engineer,’ he advises.
