Savage saves his bacon

ROBBIE SAVAGE, irritant presenter of BBC Five Live’s World Cup breakfast show, managed to escape from the deep hole he had dug himself at a marketing regional awards function, where the former Leicester City and Wales midfielder was presenting prizes.

Savage, bored with the ceremony, decided to inject more drama into proceedings by announcing a wrong winner who was then told to return to his seat when approaching the stage.

Savage (right) might have thought it was a funny trick to play but he soon realised that he had totally misjudged the mood of the evening.

So to retrieve the situation, Savage invited his victim back on stage to offer him a fortnight’s use of his Caribbean holiday home ... plus flights.
