The Minister seems like a wide-eyed innocent given the run of the place

-

EOGHAN MURPHY, Minister for Homelessness and EverIncreasing Misery, told the nation on Tuesday that he had a ‘fantastic’ and, no doubt, costly education.

Which begs the question – would he be entitled to a refund?

Because one of the greatest benefits of education is an ability to listen.

And Eoghan Murphy shows little, if any capacity, in that regard. The man, politically, is tone deaf. He simply doesn’t seem to get the fact that homelessness has worsened during his watch, with 9,891 people in emergency accommodation.

Shamefully, this includes 3,867 children.

Eoghan Murphy – and the entire Government – have proven themselves to be hopeless failures.

Their mantra is that things will be better, the problem will be solved, down the road. All we need is patience while Murphy and others get their act together.

The fantastically educated Murphy brings precisely nothing special to the homeless crisis. He’s politically lethargic, lacking in drive and imagination, comes up way short in passion, focus and leadership and has the appearance of a wide-eyed innocent given the run of the place.

A fool would solve the housing crisis if the only measure of success was to wait things out, until eventually, the system ratchets up to put the market into balance.

What we need is a campaigner, a disrupter, an innovator – somebody who gets the job done. Now, or very, very soon.

Clearly, qualifications for the role don’t necessarily include the requirement for a fantastic education. Because, as Murphy proves, that guarantees nothing.
