CHILDLINE IS IRELAND'S only 24-hour listening service for children and young people. It answers over 1,000 calls, texts and online contacts every day. Childline has been listening to children for 30 years and will this year answer its seven- I= millionth phone call. Children call Childline for every reason imaginable and for some reasons that are almost unimaginable. All funds raised through Cheerios® Childline Breakfast Week will help to keep Childline listening to children. Ruth Wearne is one of over 300 volunteers from all walks of life who keep Childline listening to children, every hour of every day and night. 'I was a little nervous starting out, but every volunteer gets full training before answering their rlx first contact. You don't need any previous experience or qualifications. We also es get really good support during every shift". irRuth has seen for herself how Child line makes a ' difference. "Childline gives children a safe space where they will be listened to, maybe for the first time. Some children who contact Child line are quite upset at first - sometimes, they aren't even able to speak about whatever made them call us. When we talk to them about their rights, and we empower them, we really see a change. "As a volunteer, it is amazing to feel as though you've helped a child to get to a more positive place by the end of a call. "It is so important that Childline is always here to listen to any child or young person in Ireland to talk about any issue on their mind, whatever that might be." Childline volunteers all have one thing in common - their passion and commitment to empowering and listening to children. Each volunteer is provided with a comprehensive training course, and ongoing development and support, to ensure that they are fully equipped to answer any call that they receive - even the most challenging ones. Because Childline is open to children's calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it day off to a great start while raising funds for Childline by hosting their own Cheerios% Childilne Breakfast. Every business that registers will get a registration pack and portion packs of Less than 5% Sugar Oat Cheerios% for their staff members to enjoy. Leah Hughes, Account Manager from Mediacom says 'we are delighted to be hosting a Cheerios° Childline Breakfast in aid of ISPCC Childline this year. It brings the team together to network, chat and hopefully have a bit of fun. ISPCC Childline is a cause that is very close to our hearts, and this is a brilliant way to help fundraise for such an important charity. We are encouraging other businesses to do the same, so please register to host a Breakfast on childlinebreakfastie, and please do your bit to keep Childline listening, every day and every night'. day off to a great start while raising funds for Childline by hosting their own Cheerios% Childilne Breakfast.
