TRAORE LEAVES IT LATE AS WOLVES END WAIT TO WIN AT WEST HAM

-

WOLVES picked up their first Premier League win since February 2012 after summer recruit Adama Traore scored in injury-time for a 1-0 win at West Ham to leave the hosts still waiting for their first points under Manuel Pellegrini.

West Ham started positively and could have gone ahead after four minutes but Felipe Anderson saw his effort blocked by Rui Patricio.

Patricio pulled off two top-drawer saves just after the break, first denying Michail Antonio and then Marko Arnautovic, the Austrian seeing his shot rebound off Patricio’s face.

Raul Jimenez looked to have spurned the visitors’ best chance late on after tripping over the ball in the penalty area before Traore struck.

‘I’ve been working with (manager) Nuno Espirito Santo and the staff and they have been showing me how the team plays,’ said Traore. ‘He told me to do what I need to do when I came on, to show my quality and that’s what I did.

‘I am happy for the performance of the team, and this is what we needed.’

Two goals from Glenn Murray secured Brighton a 2-2 draw against Fulham.

Andre Schurrle had put the Cottagers ahead before Murray struck on 67 minutes.

Aleksander Mitrovic looked to have won the game for the visitors before Murray found the net again.

Everton remain unbeaten after a 1-1 draw at home to Huddersfield.

Philip Billing gave the Terrors a 33rd-minute lead but Dominic Calvert-Lewin earned Marco Silva’s side a point.

Danny Ings and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg goals got Southampton their first league win of the season at Crystal Palace in a 2-0 victory.
