WHERE TO GET YOUR TV ON DEMAND

-

Ebay and Amazon are awash with bargain box set DVDs but the easiest way to get access today for many of the dramas on these pages is by signing up to an internet streaming service. Here are the five best.

NETFLIX From €7.99 per month, netflix.com

The US subscription service has more than 900 box sets to stream, plus movies. The Netflix app is available on connected TVs, PCs, Blu-ray players and games consoles, or you can use a settop box or streaming stick (around €40).

RTE PLAYER Free, www.rte.ie/player

New shows are available to stream for 30 days. It’s available on Sky, Virgin Media, Eir, Smart TVs or, as with Netflix, via a set-top box or streaming stick.

APPLE ITUNES From 99c, itunes.com

For back-catalogue movies, Apple’s service is close to unbeatable. It is, however, relatively expensive, and it’s hard to get iTunes to your set without buying an Apple TV.

AMAZON PRIME VIDEO From €7.99 per month, amazon.co.uk

Amazon’s service is similar to Netflix and is also available as part of a bundle with its Prime service (for around €90 per year, including free shopping deliveries). Get it on your TV in the same way as Netflix.

NOW TV/SKY

From €7 per month, nowtv.com With Sky’s offshoot service you buy ‘passes’ to watch Sky channels, with packages of sport, entertainment or movies. Access in the same way as for the services above, or buy a Now TV stick or box (from €25).
