Lyons nicks it for Fermanagh

FERMANAGH deserved this hard-fought win over Kildare. With the game tied at six points apiece with ten minutes left to play it was the Erne County’s Ryan Lyons who was to emerge as the home side’s hero popping over two fine points to secure the win in Division 2.

Kildare had pegged back a two-point deficit at half-time with Neil Flynn clipping over two frees and Fergal Conway converting a mark but they looked laboured in attack with the home side turning them over time and time again. Sean Quigley clipped over a free to stem the Kildare tide in the second half before the Erne men finished much stronger.

Indeed, Fermanagh could have had a goal when they broke in behind the Kildare defence when Ultan Kelm used his pace to good effect to take a fist pass over the top but his shot was well saved by
