TOUR SHOCK 1

THE feud triggered by Mel B’s revelation that she had a lesbian fling with Geri Horner may have cost the Spice Girls a multi-millioneuro payday.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that plans were being drawn up to stage a series of concerts in America, Australia and the Far East when their tour of the UK and Ireland finishes on June 15.

But the idea of a ‘world tour’ has been abandoned after ‘Ginger Spice’ Geri released a statement last weekend denying any sexual relationship with Mel B and even suggested she might sue the media outlets that had reported on their trysts.

Furious that she was being branded a liar, Mel B, 43, warned her bandmate that she would go into the witness box to give evidence for the media if Mrs Horner, 46, went ahead with her threat. A source close to the band said: ‘It has been a hugely dramatic week. At one point last Sunday, the tour wasn’t happening. They agreed that they had to do the British and Irish dates because they are under contract and they don’t want to let their fans down, but there won’t be any more.’

Referring to the war of words over potential legal action, another source said: ‘Mel didn’t see why she should lie. She says they both know it happened and threatened that, if Geri took action, she would go to court to testify that it did.’

The band, which has sold an estimated 85million records worldwide, has been plunged into chaos since ‘Scary Spice’ Mel B – whose full name is Melanie Brown – spoke about the fling to Piers Morgan in an interview for his forthcoming Life Stories TV series.

Writing in our Magazine today, Mr Morgan backs Mel B’s version of events over Geri’s denial: ‘So Geri’s called Mel B a liar. For the record, I believe Mel.’ Referring to the MoS’s revelation last weekend that the relationship between the two Spice Girls lasted a year, he adds: ‘This is something my own sources tell me is closer to the truth than a onenight stand.’
