Westlife ‘to rival Coldplay’ with new show

WESTLIFE has hired the Cirque du Soleil team, which specialises in aerial acrobats, to create a brand new spectacular live show for their upcoming tour that singer Shane Filan says will ‘blow you away’.

The reformed group have sold out two dates at Croke Park this July – and the boys have blown the budget on a technologyfuelled musical extravaganza.

And, according to Shane, the four stools that made the band famous have become a thing of the past.

The new tour has sold out in Ireland and the UK but Shane, Mark, Nicky and Kian are promising a live show like no other.

Shane said the reformed band has spent millions of euro on a production that will rival that of Coldplay.

Speaking to the Irish Mail on Sunday, Shane said: ‘The new show had to be bigger and better than ever before. We have brought in the designers behind Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas to design the show. It will just blow you away.’

He added: ‘The technology has just changed so much in the seven years since we have been away and you can do so much.

‘You have to invest in the show to give people something amazing. It’s basically a spectacular show with Westlife songs thrown in. We need to blow people away the way that Coldplay do and we are confident we can do that.’

For fans who missed out on Croke Park tickets, the show will be broadcast live to cinemas across Ireland and the UK on Saturday, July 6. The concert will be the final date on the group’s Ireland/UK tour.
