Doireann’s set for full-time move to 2FM

- By Eoin Murphy

DOIREANN Garrihy is in ‘advanced talks’ to make a more permanent move to 2FM.

The Irish Mail on Sunday has learned that the former Spin and Today FM broadcaster is very much a part of the 2FM shake-up, which has seen Jennifer Zamparelli land her own mid-morning show.

Head of 2FM Dan Healy is set to announce a major overhaul of the daily schedule.

And it looks extremely likely that the former Podge and Rodge TV show host looks set to be a big part of that reorganisation.

‘Doireann is taking things slowly, but look, a 2FM move would suit her,’ said a well-placed source.

‘She has her own social media following, but as well as that she is an accomplished broadcaster now,’ the source added.

‘She co-hosted for two weeks on prime-time radio for Today FM, so she is no stranger to the big job.’

On top of her radio career, Doireann has also launched her own podcast, The Laughs of Our Lives, which has starred radio host Ian Dempsey, as well as television faces Baz Ashmawy and Síle Seoige.

The podcast has been receiving rave reviews and enjoyed a number of stints at number one in the Irish podcast charts.

The 26-year-old has become a familiar fixture on radio and television shows, and has written and starred in her own comedy series for RTÉ Player.

With 179,000 followers, Doireann is also one of the country’s most popular celebrities on Instagram.

RTÉ radio declined to comment when contacted by the MoS.

However, a station insider said that ‘no final decision has been made yet on the new line-up’.

‘There will be an announcement made when everything is signed.

‘Talks are in an advanced stage, but nothing has been signed off.

‘Yes, Doireann is in the mix, but so are other people,’ the insider added.
