PRINCE ANDREW (PA): Do I regret the fact that he [Jeffrey Epstein] has quite obviously conducted himself in a manner unbecoming? Yes.

EMILY MAITLIS (EM): Unbecoming? He was a sex offender.

EM What did he say when you told him you were breaking up the friendship?

PA He’d served his time and he was carrying on with his life and I said: ‘That’s as may be but with all the attendant scrutiny on me then I don’t think it is a wise thing to do.’

EM But you were staying at the house… of a convicted sex offender.

PA It was a convenient place to stay…it was definitely the wrong thing to do. But at the time I felt it was the honourable and right thing to do and I admit fully that my judgment was probably coloured by my tendency to be too honourable.

EM She [Virginia Roberts Giuffre] was very specific about that night, she described dancing with you.

And you profusely sweating.

PA …I didn’t sweat at the time because I had suffered what I would describe as an overdose of adrenalin in the Falklands War when I was shot at and I simply…it was almost impossible for me to sweat.

EM Your friends suggested that the photo is fake?

PA …from the investigations that we’ve done, you can’t prove whether or not that photograph is faked or not… it is a photograph of a photograph of a photograph.

PA …I live in an institution at Buckingham Palace which has members of staff walking around all the time and I don’t wish to appear grand but there were a lot of people who were walking around Jeffrey Epstein’s house. As far as I was aware, they were staff, they were people that were working for him.

EM But you’d notice if there were hundreds of underage girls in Buckingham Palace wouldn’t you?
