PROUD new mother Rosanna Davison was present to see her daughter’s arrival into the world and even cut the umbilical cord during delivery, the Irish Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Rosanna, 35, had previously told the MoS she and husband Wesley Quirke were hoping to be present for the exact moment their little daughter finally made an appearance.

This week, all of their dreams came true as Sophia Rose Quirke arrived, albeit a little late, and Rosanna and Wesley were there to see her being born.

‘We watched her being born and I cut her cord,’ Rosanna told the MoS last night.

‘Thursday was the most emotional, overwhelming day of my life. It was so special to be there f or her delivery,’ she added.

Rosanna took to Instagram on Thursday to share the wonderful news that their much longed-for daughter had been born, and how she and Wesley had finally fulfilled their dreams of being parents thanks to a surrogate pregnancy.

‘And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true. Today, November 21st, 2019 at 11.57am, our beautiful and healthy daughter Sophia

Rose Quirke arrived safely into the world weighing 6lbs8oz... she’s absolutely perfect. We’re completely overwhelmed with love and gratitude for our incredible gestational surrogate, who has given us the greatest gift of all and made our family dream a reality,’ she wrote.

In a nod to becoming a mother, who lists being a Miss World and best-selling author amongst her achievements, she almost instantly updated her Instagram account biography to put ‘Sophia’s Mum’ first as if to signify that the birth of her daughter is her biggest accomplishment by far.

Rosanna and Wesley embarked on their surrogacy journey to parenthood over two years ago and now they are finally about to begin life as a family of three.

She told the MoS that once they finalise some paperwork they will be flying home with their tiny daughter.

‘We should be home in a few weeks when her passport is processed,’ she said.

Prior to the birth, she said: ‘He [Wesley] will be a terrific father. He is great with children so he will be an amazing dad.’

While this is the couple’s first time at parenthood, she laughed and said that their two pet pooches, Pomeranians Teddy and Leo, have given them good training.

Rosanna announced in October that she and Wesley were expecting a baby girl via a surrogate this year.

Taking to Instagram she shared a snap of the pair holding a top bearing the slogan ‘dream big little girl’.

She said she was ‘incredibly grateful’ for the ‘greatest gift’ that would be making their family grow from two to three. ‘Wes and I are overjoyed to share the news that we’re expecting a baby girl in November (by gestational surrogate). As our families and close friends know, this has been a long and very

tough journey for us, sadly with multiple miscarriages along the way,’ she wrote.

She said the couple had ‘dreamed of being parents for many years’, adding: ‘We’re so thankful for the wonders of modern medicine and reproductive science.’

She also thanked ‘our amazing surrogate for keeping our little daughter healthy and safe’. With her honesty about their struggles to conceive, she has been inundated with goodwill messages for speaking about her fertility issues.
