In episode four of this sumptuous costume drama, tensions rise when Caroline organises an outing for Lady Maria and Anne, Susan’s indulgent behaviour catches up with her, and Ellis begins to show her true colours.

The semi-finals begin with a spectacula­r challenge as the remaining nine cooks head to the Royal Navy base at Portsmouth to board HMS Diamond and prepare a three-course meal for the ship’s annual Trafalgar Night celebratio­ns – it’s mass catering for 120 people, but at a fine-dining level.

Last Easter, eight men inspired by Islamic State triggered huge suicide bombs in churches and tourist hotels across Sri Lanka, killing more than 270 people. Jane Corbin talks to survivors and those who came face to face with the killers in this emotional film.

A Day In The Life Of Coronaviru­s 9PM, CH4 ★★★★

This film was shot across the UK on April 3, and brings together footage across 24 hours of the country in lockdown. Film of children being home-schooled and people trying to go about their daily lives is a comforting reminder that we’re all in this together.

Burnt By The Sun 9.35PM, RTé ONE ★★★

The second part of the documentar­y hears from Irish people who bought property abroad during the boom years of the Celtic Tiger. It finds that while some are resigned to the cost, other are still fighting to recoup their losses.

Putin: A Russian Spy Story 10PM, CH4 ★★★★

The final part of this profile opens in Salisbury with the poisoning of double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter in 2018. It then looks back to 2012, when Putin’s return to the Presidency after a four-year absence was met with furious protests, and he decided to take a more active role in global politics.

They probably reasoned we could all do with a bit of cheering up at the moment, and as the last few episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway proved, few presenters are as good at lifting our spirts as Ant and Dec. They’re joined by David Walliams, Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon, as well as a host of aspiring singers, dancers and miscellane­ous performers.
