Star Robbie’s heartbreak as he loses two relatives to virus

- By Debbie McCann

SOCCER legend Robbie Keane lost two relatives this week, his wife Claudine has revealed in a sad post.

Taking to Twitter, Claudine Keane revealed: ‘Looking back over the last few weeks seems surreal.

‘Two of Rob’s relatives have passed away this week and Rob is currently enroute to beep his horn outside to show his respect.’

The footballer’s wife said it is ‘very heartbreaking for people not to get the sendoff they deserve’ and added: ‘RIP Anne and Christie.’ Earlier this week Claudine told another newspaper how she had a relative battling Covid-19.

‘Even though they were under such pressure, they [the staff] showed great kindness and compassion, something we will never forget,’ she said.

‘It is not easy for anyone involved, and it’s made more difficult when you can’t see a family member, but they do their best to help everyone involved.

She added: ‘They put their lives on the line to help others and at a time when we are being told to stay at home, they are going to work to risk their lives.

‘Our family member is recovering well after having treatment in ICU.

‘I think it’s important to get a message of hope out there too, with the care of these amazing healthcare workers there are positive stories, as I know we all tried to focus on the positives during such a difficult time.

‘It was the worst few weeks of our lives not knowing or being able to see someone we loved, but thank God they pulled through, all thanks to our healthcare heroes.’

Robbie and his model wife have set up a new GoFundMe appeal to raise funds for hospitals around the country in the fight against the pandemic.
