From A to Zen
Shed that chaotic energy with a diffuser
Homes are hectic at the moment. The dishwasher and washing machine seem to be churning all day, pans are constantly rattling in the kitchen, and clothes are drying everywhere.
I decided to see if tech could help me get some zen back in to my home, and after browsing Amazon, I settled on a smart essential oil diffuser from Asakuki.
This is a nice looking, cubical gadget with a wooden base, topped by a frosted white cover. It’s discreet at just 15cm each side, but looks good and is big enough to look like a small piece of furniture.
In the box, were a filling cup, a standard three-pin power lead as well as the diffuser itself. I downloaded an app and after quickly setting up an account, my diffuser appeared in the list of devices, and from there, I was able to control it.
I filled the diffuser with a couple of jugs of water – it holds 700ml – and added some essential oils, 10 drops for each jug, which I had to buy separately. Then, I used the Amazon Alexa app to connect the diffuser to my Amazon Echo, and after that it became voice responsive. The Asakuki has a built-in night light that rotates through seven colours. Also, the app allows you to adjust the mist strength, so you can reduce it for a discreet release of the oils.
It’s a little disappointing that you have to buy oils separately but this is still a wonderful smart-home device.
The mist is visible and attractive, the night light is wonderful and would be ideal in a bedroom or perhaps on a landing. It’s great value, easy to set-up and a fine way to get some harmony back in your life.
