FAYLAQ is superbly bred and cost £1.5million as a yearling. He improved steadily last season until finding the ground too soft when fourth to Morando in the Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot in October. Back on a sounder surface, he can continue progressing.

Haydock, 2.05

FANNY LOGAN finished behind Manuela De Vega in the Cheshire Oaks in May last year but her season then took off and significantly she ended up with a fourth place at the Breeders’ Cup meeting. She has Group One race entries and her stable is going well.

Newmarket, 2.25

WEST END CHARMER has not run since winning well at Doncaster over a year ago but that form stands up to scrutiny and he could be hard to peg back if adopting similar front-running tactics at a meeting where prominent runners have fared well.

Haydock, 2.40

Telecaster, the 2019 Dante Stakes winner, lost his form last season and is probably best watched to see if he has recaptured it. Royal Ascot winner Sangarius is an interesting runner after being diverted from firm ground at Newmarket on Friday but ELARQAM, a Group Two winner last season, is the most solid option

Newmarket, 3.00

Hard to choose between a clutch of promising fillies but trainer John Gosden has won this race in four of the last six runnings and impressive Newcastle winner TIEMPO VUELA might best be the pick of his trio of runners.

Haydock, 3.15

You have to go back to 1997 for the last three-year-old winner but Lord of The Lodge is a strong contender, while Space Blue is the worthy favourite. But HAPPY POWER goes well fresh, hails from a stable in top form and a bit of rain to ease the ground will help.

Newmarket, 3.35

Favourite Quadrilateral might prove best in distances beyond a mile this season and could just lack the pace sharpness of Jessie Harrington’s Irish raider MILLISLE, who won the Cheveley Park Stakes at the track last year when beating Raffle Prize by a length and three-quarters. She can give champion jockey Oisin Murphy a historic Classic double success.
