The (not so) Happy Pear fans ain’t keen on kissing photos
IT SEEMS David and Stephen Flynn, aka The Happy Pear, are in a spot of hot water with their fans. The brothers recently shared photographs of themselves up close with a pensioner on a beach and another with comedian Russell Brand – however they insist they were taken before the pandemic.
Fans of the vegan food bloggers, who some wits call Vegward, ‘took umbrage’ at the pictures showing the pair kissing a septuagenarian on the cheek and doing the same with fellow vegan Russell Brand.
But while the pictures were taken before social distancing was introduced and kissing became practically outlawed, the Flynn brothers admitted they were remiss in not including a disclaimer when posting the images online.
They said: ‘We take our obligations very seriously when it comes to Covid-19. I can confirm that both of these images were taken prior to Covid.
‘While we did a podcast with Russell Brand recently, this was done via video link. Sometimes we use older images to support a message we are posting on social media, or in the case of Russell Brand to promote our podcast.
‘We are generally quite good at including a disclaimer along the lines of “picture taken pre-Covid” where we post old images and indeed included this on the image kissing the gentleman.
‘This is something we overlooked in the Russell Brand case as we assumed that it would be evident that this was a historic image as we had used it previously.
‘Thanks again for the reminder that we need to continue to be clear on this point to ensure we are setting the right example.’
