John Simm takes the lead in this featurelen­gth adaptation of Peter James’s first Roy Grace novel, Dead Simple, filmed in and around Brighton and Hove. It opens with Det Supt Grace investigat­ing cold cases and obsessing over his missing wife; then, his colleague, DS Branson, asks for help when a man disappears during his stag night.

Bloodlands 9PM, BBC1 ★★★★

In the final episode of this brooding Northern Ireland-set drama, Tom Brannick (James Nesbitt) is desperatel­y trying to stop the truth about the identity of Goliath from coming out – and is prepared to kill anyone who gets in his way.

It seems the gardaí are no longer considerin­g Denis’s death to be a tragic accident – which means the Ahern family are now under closer scrutiny. Meanwhile, Val is struggling to understand Grace’s erratic behaviour.

My Tribe – Mo Threibh

The second episode focuses on the indie scene, which is hard to define, but usually involves guitar music and a DIY attitude. For Niamh Ní Shuilleabh­áin, it was a chance to find something other than the chart music played at her local nightclub.

Fawlty Towers

A rare repeat showing for perhaps the greatest British comedy of them all. Remarkably, just 12 episodes were made – and no matter how many times you’ve seen the crazed antics of Basil Fawlty (John Cleese), you’ll still be howling with laughter.

Jill Halfpenny stars in this new thriller as a woman whose son went missing nine years ago. She spots a teenager who she believes could be her child, but when the police dismiss her claims, she decides to take matters into her own hands.
