NEW Today FM presenter Louise Cantillon has also bagged herself another TV job.

The Limerick gaelgeoir has just finished recording a brand new travel show for TG4 after spending a busy summer backpacking across Europe. Speaking to the Irish Mail on Sunday, she said: ‘I filmed a new travel show for TG4 during the summer.

‘It was as Gaeilge and along with some others we spent the summer travelling around Europe filming the show.’

A fluent Irish speaker, Louise is passionate about our native tongue.

She added: ‘Now more than ever our language is a very important part of our culture and identity.’

The 28-year-old – who also hosts Junior Eurovision on TG4 – has stepped into Dec Pierce’s slot on Today FM.

She’s on air on Saturdays from 2pm to 6pm and Sundays from 4pm to 7pm. And she is also filling in for Paula MacSweeney on Mondays and Tuesdays while she is on maternity leave.

The delighted radio star took to Instagram last month to share her good news, saying: ‘It’s official. So unbelievably honoured to be joining the @todayfm line up!

‘Will be on air Sat-Tue across the station’s schedule, kicking off tomorrow @2pm – filling the big boots @decpierce has left behind! Whoohú bígí liom.’

Away from the airwaves, the presenter has had an exciting 12 months as she also got engaged to her childhood sweetheart, Limerick hurling captain Declan Hannon in December 2021. The couple have been inseparable since meeting at a teenage disco in Garryowen Rugby Club a decade ago.

Declan, who works as a healthcare recruitment manager, popped the question last

Christmas during a getaway to Dingle’s Slea Head beach. Sharing the happy news at the time, Louise joked: ‘Extra sparkly sunrise at Chom Dhíneol ar maidin...’
