Angela Scanlon: My husband loves my Strictly body

ANGELA SCANLON has revealed that her husband is loving her new ‘ripped’ physique that she has honed from Strictly, as she took to the floor to perform a sexy samba last night.

The Co.Meath presenter says her partner, entrepreneur Roy Horgan, is seeing a different side to her, which she says has been ‘hidden for 40 years’, as she shakes her hips on the BBC One dance show.

Ms Scanlon, who scored 27 for her slinky routine to Jennifer Lopez’s hit Ain’t It Funny, told the Irish Mail on Sunday: ‘I feel absolutely ripped and, oh listen, my husband’s grand. He’s happy. I mean I’ve been shaking my hips like nothing else but, you know, they’re holding up.’

Ms Scanlon, who has two daughters with Mr Horgan, also said that her time on Strictly has made her feel more confident – and is even tempted to take last night’s samba outfit home. She said: ‘It’s been lovely to be back in a space where I’m properly being pushed physically. It’s very good for the confidence.

‘You kind of think after kids you’re a different person and actually you’re still the same.

‘I think a massive part of the appeal of the show was the physicality of it. I’m really pushing myself because weirdly I was rather stuck in my ways.

‘It’s been terrifying but rewarding to be shoved out there in an outfit that I wouldn’t necessarily choose on a Saturday night.’

Ms Scanlon, 39, who presents BBC Two interior show Your Home Made Perfect, also admitted that she can get frustrated with her professional partner, Carlos Gu. She said: ‘There has not been one tiff between us but sometimes, but if I get a bit frustrated, my nostrils flare.’

Meanwhile, Bobby Brazier danced an Argentine tango last night, scoring 30 out of 40, as Angela Rippon performed a waltz to Fascination by Nat King Cole, for which she was awarded 28.

Annabel Croft performed a couple’s choice dance to Wings by Birdy, Layton Williams did a jive to Shake Ur Body by Shy FX & T-Power, and Krishnan Guru-Murthy performed a couple’s choice to You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon.
