PRESENTER and Strictly star Angela Scanlon is adding entrepreneurship to her dance card as her fledgling jewellery firm starts to sprout wings.

Angela’s inimitable style has earned her a legion of admirers – not least Anton Du Beke, who last night hailed the flame-haired TV host and told her she was ‘becoming an exquisite, beautiful ballroom dancer’.

And her move into the business of fashion has proved an equally savvy side-step as recent accounts for her

‘I have always been obsessed with jewellery’

venture’s first 13 months of trading show sales of £200,806 (€231,458).

Her FRKL range sells bespoke charms, stylish earrings and an array of jewellery very much in keeping with her own style.

Accounts filed for FRKL in the UK Companies Office show that, while running at a small loss of £26,919 (€31,026), Angela’s jewellery has shifted a significant amount of stock and it shouldn’t be too long before her fledgling venture turns a profit. She will also benefit from her star turns on the dancefloor in the hit BBC TV show, where her dazzling performances – including two 9s from the judges last night – have boosted her profile across the water as well as here at home.

After Strictly, the talented Meath presenter is likely to be inundated with new career offers, which will further enhance her earning power.

Recently filed accounts for her production company, AH Productions Limited, show it enjoyed net assets of £419,193 (€482,882) at the end of last year, a rise from the £407,304 (€469,264) recorded 12 months earlier.

And the wily presenter-entrepreneur is already using her newly enhanced profile to showcase her accessories.

Last month she stepped out with Strictly dance partner Carols Gu in an oversized grey trouser suit, which featured slouchy trousers and a boxy blazer, which she paired with an embellished sheer white bustier with grey detailing on the bust.

She accessorised her look with towering white heels and, for some sparkle, added a pair of large pearl drop earrings from her jewellery brand.

Her FRKL range also featured last year in the Brown Thomas Create pop-up shop and the highend department store continues to

‘Reminds me of far-flung places’

feature the growing brand in its accessories hall.

Angela said every piece in the collection carries its own personal touch.

‘I have always been obsessed with jewellery, layering it, finding beloved pieces in places I go, collecting it. It links me to important or pivotal moments in my life, reminds me of people in far-flung places and brings me back in time.

‘Every single piece in the FRKL collection is made with this in mind – a collection of base pieces that can be adorned, added to and loved forever.

‘Marking birthdays and breakups, new ventures and wild adventures. The highs, the lows and all that good stuff in between. Pieces that connect us – to a place, a person, a memory, a milestone, a victory, ourselves.’
