SAFE… FOR NOW
CAVAN-MONAGHAN
NOTHING to see here in the land of Heather Humphreys, whose status is secure. But no gain.
CORK SOUTH-CENTRAL
THE Coveney dynasty rolls on… and on and on. Sadly (or otherwise) though, there’s no space this time on the dynastic coat-tails for a return of Jerry Buttimer.
CORK NORTH-CENTRAL
AN extra seat here after the boundary redraw means the hard-working if somewhat onepaced Colm Burke should be returned, but not securely.
DUBLIN CENTRAL
IF a recession returns to put manners on us, Prudent Paschal is safe. That is, of course, if mr Donohoe is true to his word and is not eyeing a big job in Europe.
DUBLIN MID-WEST
AS Sinn Féin hunts for three seats, Emer Higgins will experience some indignities, but should survive.
DUBLIN SOUTH-WEST
THIS is as secure as a Fine Gael seat can be. For now.
DUBLIN WEST
THE addition of a fifth seat means leo should comfortably hold, but the Taoiseach is unlikely to bring in a running mate.
GALWAY WEST
THE civil war between Hildegarde Naughton, above, and Seán Kyne will be worth watching, but it’s unlikely to build the critical mass for a seat gain.
KILDARE SOUTH
MARTIN HEYDON should be safe as long as he refrains from writing any more spontaneous articles about tax.
LIMERICK CITY
KIERAN O’DONNELL should just about be safe, courtesy of another Green sacrifice to Sinn Féin... unless there’s a Social Democrats surge too.
MEATH EAST
JUSTICE minister Helen Mcentee is safe as houses, but no gains coming in her heartland either. Further proof that having a minister in a constituency does not translate into an automatic seat gain.
WICKLOW
SITTING TD, minister and potential leo successor Simon Harris is safe as a bank, but a seat gain is unlikely.
