STEPHEN MEARNS

Solicitor Stephen Mearns writes under the name Steve Cavanagh (his mother’s maiden name). He started writing full time in 2019 at the age of 42. Based in Lisburn, he is the author of bestsellin­g courtroom dramas including Twisted, Fifty Fifty, The Devil’s Advocate and The Accomplice. His latest novel Kill For Me, Kill For Me, was published in July by Hachette.

DERVLA MCTIERNAN

Cork-born Dervla McTiernan ran her own legal practice in Galway before emigrating to Perth in Australia with her family, partly a result of the financial crash. Her first novel The Ruin was published in 2018 and became an internatio­nal bestseller, kicking off the Cormac Reilly series, a trilogy about a young cop whose job is to save children. She has also written three audio novellas. Dervla’s latest novel The Murder Rule was published this year by William Morrow & Company.

CATHERINE KIRWAN

Catherine Kirwan grew up in Waterford and now lives in Cork City where she works as a solicitor. Her career in law is the inspiratio­n for the protagonis­t of her crime series, Finn Fitzpatric­k, a Cork solicitor and sometime sleuth. Kirwan’s debut novel Darkest Truth was published in 2019. Her second Cruel Deeds is out now in paperback while her latest novel A Lesson In Malice was published in June.
