Fancy a chat with Potter star Rupert? That’ll be €350 please

- By Emily Prescott

FOR someone so keen to distance himself from JK Rowling over her trans views, Rupert Grint seems to have no problem with raking in the spoils from the writer’s Harry Potter universe.

I can reveal that Rupert, who played Ron Weasley in the films, is facing the wrath of Potter fans by charging sky-high prices for those wanting to get close to him at an event later this month.

During the two-day Enter The Wizard World convention in Paris, Rupert, 35 – who is thought to be worth about £40m (€45m) – will be on hand to meet his diehard fans, pose for photos and chat about his time working on the movie franchise – if they have deep pockets.

Tickets for the event start at €119 but rise to €135 for his autograph and €130 for a selfie with the actor.

Rupert is also offering a small group – limited to 30 people – the chance to spend half an hour chatting with him, but that privilege will cost a staggering €349 per person.

Some fans may be excited at the prospect of meeting their childhood idol, but others have criticised the actor for the ludicrous prices.

On the event’s official social media page, one disappointed fan wrote: ‘Your prices are exorbitant. I have been a Potterhead since book one. This will be the first convention that unfortunately I won’t be able to attend because I can’t afford to... unless I part with a kidney.’

Rupert has previously spoken out against JK Rowling regarding her views on transgender ideology. Speaking on the subject in 2020, he said: ‘I firmly stand with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment.’

He later added that he likened Rowling to an aunt he doesn’t necessarily agree with.
