Tackle cold sores with Bio-Propolis and Lysine

- WITH CLAIR WHITTY

COLD sores are extremely common and are easily spread by direct contact with an infected person. A cold sore is caused by a virus, Herpes Simplex. It occurs on the lips sometimes without warning or you may feel a tingling before it appears. The area will become red and can swell, a blister will appear. A scab will appear later. It can be unsightly and you can feel very self-conscious about them. Some people frequently get cold sores.

The cold sore virus can lie dormant waiting for a trigger to reactivate it. Over exposure to UV light can trigger the virus, which is unfortunate because the last thing we want when we are on holiday is a cold sore. Emotional or physical stress is a trigger, as are fever, menstruation, alcohol, and nicotine, as well as foods rich in Arginine. These include chocolate and nuts.

Lysine is an amino acid that can discourage the spread of the virus. This is available in supplement form and you can take it to both treat and prevent them. Take it alongside B complex that has a good level of B6.

Bio-Propolis, cold sore barrier ointment, is really good and is worth a try, it’s one of those remedies that customers tell each other about because it works. It’s a barrier ointment containing propolis which is found inside the bee hive. It has anti-viral and anaesthetic properties, and has a skin healing effect. You need to apply it five times a day, which will help it to heal more quickly, reduce the risk of secondary infection, and the intensity of pain, as well as tackling the virus that causes the cold sore. It comes in a nice tidy tube that will fit in your pocket.

So the next time you get a tingle on your lips, don’t waste time dreading the awful cold sore, act quickly use your Bio-Propolis and start taking Lysine. You’ll be glad you did.
