Kerry water: so good they charged it twice
KERRY has been identified as having the best sea water in the country this week, but it appears Irish Water seems to think the same of our tap water, having deemed it so good that they charged some customers twice.
At the receiving end of not one but two bills this week was Abbeydorney woman Lynda McCarthy, who was shocked to find two bills addressed to her, but showing two different account numbers and two different balances.
AN Abbeydorney woman who received two bills from Irish Water, each showing different account numbers and different balances, has described the situation as ‘a complete joke’
Lynda McCarthy, of Riverside Close, received the bills on Thursday last - both of which were addressed to her and were issued on the same date, April 14.
However, one bill showed a balance of €64.10 while the other showed the amount due was €48.67.
“One is a bill for metered water and the other is for un-metered water, but I am metered so the whole thing is a joke,” she said. “I’ve no problem paying my water bill but my major concern is that there are two accounts with my name and address on them. I’m going to pay the bill for the metered water (€48.76) but what if I get word in three months time that the larger bill is still outstanding? It’s ridiculous that two bills arrived.”
Lynda said that a number of neighbours have also been left furious over their bills, where balances appear ridiculously high in comparison.
“I live with my daughter and accept the reading on the metered bill because we’re constantly using water, but two neighbours who live alone have got bills for similar amounts and they wouldn’t use half the amount of water I do. There’s uproar.”
