Extra places available on charity cycle as lottery details announced

- By KEVIN HUGHES

ORGANISERS behind the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle have announced details of 500 additional places on the sold-out cycle and have urged the public to get online as soon as possible as the places are currently available through a lottery system until Friday only.

It follows a similar move last year but the unprecedented demand for this year’s event will mean a major scramble for those all-important places this week.

“Following a review of the requests on social media and by email to reallocate additional places, and a review of all cancelled registrations, The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle organising committee is pleased to announce that it is in a position to accept 500 additional registrations for the 2015 Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle,” an event statement read yesterday (Tuesday).

“We realise that demand for these will be far in excess of what we can provide and so, in order to allocate the registrations in a fair manner, the organising committee will allocate the additional places by means of a lottery.

“This will be conducted through an online application process on www. ringofkerrycycle.ie,” the statement continued.

The application process opened on Friday and will close at 6pm on Friday, April 24.

The all-important draw will take place on Tuesday, May 5.

Successful applicants will be notified by email by Friday, May 8, and full terms and conditions relating to the lottery are published on www.ringofkerrycycle.ie.

Some 11,000 places for this year’s event were scooped up in record time with the cycle at capacity just three hours after the places became available.
