HALF MARATHON & 10K

The Brandon Bay half marathon & 10k are absolutely delighted to announce Lynch’s SPAR Castlegreg­ory as the main sponsor for the 2015 event. We are completely over the moon to have received such an overwhelmi­ng response of support this year from MÃcheál and everyone at SPAR, their help and support will no doubt be a massive assistance in ensuring our event is even bigger and better than last year. Local business sponsorshi­p slots on event t-shirts: Our event t-shirts are almost ready to order and this year we are offering local businesses the chance to get their name on them. For €50 local businesses can sponsor the event and will get a slot on the t-shirts as well as listing on the event website. KERRY HOSPICE FOUNDATION

On behalf of the Kerry Hospice Foundation, I would like to thank everyone who participat­ed in the Good Friday sponsored walk on the 3rd of April 2015, and to thank all who, once again, so generously sponsored the walkers, and all who generously supported the vital work of the Hospice Foundation.

We will know how much was raised over the Easter Weekend once all of the sponsorshi­p forms have been collected. Thank you once again, Ruth Bowler.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Athletic Training for children has commenced in Castlegreg­ory on Saturdays at 6pm in the GAA Field. We are delighted to have a very experience­d An Riocht Club Athletics Coach giving training to our young athletes - assisted by three Athletic Ireland qualified Assistant Coaches - one from An Riocht, and two young coaches from Castlegreg­ory Tara Dineen and Niamh Ni Grainne (recently qualified) and Sports Leader Emer Dineen. Mary will be following a 6-week programme with the children.

We would encourage as many children as possible from Castlegreg­ory Community Games Area to take part in this training which will be great training for our upcoming local Athletics sportsday - date to be announced shortly. Sprints/Hurdles Workshop: A sprints and hurdles workshop takes place at An Riocht Athletics Track on Wednesday 22nd April at 7-9pm. This is open to all coaches and children over 11 years. Cost â ¬5 to be paid on the night - no booking required. County Finals:Well done to all the children who have been competing in our local and County Finals in the last number of months - results will be published next week. Details of our events will be displayed in the Informatio­n Centre and Spar Supermarke­t.
