CARD GAME

The winners for the first prize at last week’s card game were Toddy O’Connor, Dan Brosnan and John Lyons. In runners – up position were John O’Connell, Florence O’Connell and John J. O’Connell. The winners of the table prize was the team of Pat Curtain, Mossie O’Donnell and Connie Lenihan. The prizewinne­r on the door ticket was Jean O’Grady with raffle prize going to Toddy O’Connor, Pat Curtin, Den Lane, Eileen Finnegan and Marian Quirke. The card playing season is now coming to a close in Mountcolli­ns with just two nights remaining . Cards as usual on this Thursday night at 9pm and all are welcome.

TIMOTHY O’NEILL LANE

Timothy O’Neill Lane, a man with Mountcolli­ns family connection­s will be honoured with a commemorat­ion ceremony on Saturday, May 9th. This will include the blessing of ancestral grave in the old cemetery in Brosna at 3pm. This will be followed by the unveiling of a display table next to Halla Insa Bháin in Templeglan­tine will conclude with a reception in the hall afterwards.

SOCCER LOTTO

The numbers drawn in last week’s Mountcolli­ns A.F.C lotto were 2, 14, 22 and 25. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. The winners in the lucky dip draw were, Helen Cullane, CloKostal; Michelle Kieran Flannery, Dromtrasna, Abbeyfeale ; Kathy and Amy Sheehy, Tournafull­a, Teresa Curtin, Ballaugh and Sarah Nolan, Mountcolli­ns. The winner of the promoter prize was Sean Lenihan. This week’s jackpot will be €6,700.

CEILÍ

The next ceilí in Halla Tadhg Gaelach, Tournafull­a will be held on Friday May 15th. Music on the night will be provided by the Abbey Ceilí Band. Dancing will commence at 9:30pm and refreshmen­ts will be served during the evening with a céas míle failte for all.

G.A.A. LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks Mountcolli­ns/Tournafull­a G.A.A. Clubs lotto where the numbers drawn were 11, 13, 15 and 16. Lucky dip prizes went to Willie Hartnett, Tournafull­a where the jackpot will be €2,700.

FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSH­IPS

The county Intermedia­te football championsh­ip will commence this weekend. In the opening round, Mountcolli­ns will play St Senan’s (Foynes) in Newcastlew­est on Saturday evening at 7pm. The local side will face tough opposition from one of the best teams in the competitio­n and hopefully they can produce a good performanc­e on the night. DEFIBRILLA­TOR GROUP

There will be an important meeting in the Community Centre on this Friday night at 8pm to assess the numbers interested in enrolling for Defibrilla­tor Training. This should be of special interest to all sports clubs and members of the G.A.A. the soccer club and Club na nÓg as well as interested members of the public are asked to attend. Training will be undertaken over a number of sessions and is a wonderful life-saving skill to possess.
