ST BATT’S WELL

Annual pilgrimage to St Batt’s Well will take place on Saturday next, April 25th. Rosary will be recited at 4.00pm.

LISSELTON GROTTO

The Grotto situated at Lisselton Cross remains unlit now for a considerable length of time. A group of concerned locals feel that it is important to address this as soon as possible. The grotto was built in 1954 by the Ballydonoghue branch of Muintir na Tíre. This was a totally voluntary project undertaken in the Marian Year. The group is aiming to secure lighting by solar panels similar to what has been done, very successfully, in Dromerin. Donations towards the cost will be greatly appreciated. One can contact Joseph Linnane, Jack Griffin, or Noelle Hegarty or donate at Lisselton Post Office. A receipt will be issued for all monies received.

PARISH MAGAZINE

The committee of Ballydonoghue Parish Magazine will be photographing musicians of the parish in the coming weeks. Also, a list of teachers of the parish schools is being compiled, Ballyconry, Coolard, Dromerin, Lisselton and Tullamore. Any information will be greatly appreciated. A Quern stone forms part of the west wall in Lisselton Cemetery, if you know anything about it, please contact the committee. Finally, photographs and articles from the parish and its hinterland as well as from our emigrants are very welcome. Email to magazine@ballydonoghue.net or by post to Lisselton Post Office. The committee will meet on Monday next, April 27th at Lisselton School. Time: 8.00pm.

COUNTY CLEAN UP DAY

People from all around the parish were out in force last week collecting rubbish from the roads in the area. Up to 100 bags were collected. Well done to everyone that gave of their time to ensure the area is litter free. Great credit is due to KWD who sponsor the annual clean up in the county.

BALLYDONOGHUE CCE

A wonderful night of dancing took place at Tomaisín’s hall on Saturday last as the young dancers took to the floor, some for their very first competition. It was fantastic to see how happy and confident they were after just a few months. Well done to all who took part and of course to their wonderful teacher John Stack.
