Kennelly seals it for Bally

-

Fossa 3-10 Ballydonoghue 4-10

A MAGNIFICENT contest between the two Division 4 sides that was eventually settled by the odd goal in seven!

Ballydonoghue repeated their earlier County League success over the same opposition but it was a much closer affair on this occasion on Fossa’s home turf.

After both teams traded two points apiece at the start, it was the hosts who stole the first really march in proceedings, scoring 1-2 without reply through Tadgh O’Shea and Chris Myers points followed by a Paudie Clifford goal.

They would score only one more point in the first period though as Ballydonoghue scored two goals in the final eight minutes before half-time as Jim Cremin and Paul Kennelly were on target to give the visitors a 2-5 to 1-6 lead at the break.

The goals kept coming in after the restart as well as Ballydonoghue appeared to have an unassailable lead at 4-6 to 1-6 as Jim Cremin completed a hat-trick of goals on the day barely three minutes into the second-half.

To their credit Fossa put their shoulder too the wheel in trying to eat into the deficit. Tadgh O’Shea scored their second goal as three further points had the margin at three points on the three-quarter mark.

Kieran Lynch, Eamonn Walsh and Paul Kennelly responded with ultimately crucially points for Ballydonoghue, however, as a second goal for Paudie Clifford, this time from the penalty spot, had the gap at time with time running out.

Kennelly proved to be the North Kerry side’s ‘Mr Reliable’ again however in kicking over the insurance point of a 4-10 to 3-10 success, one that will certainly add to Ballydonoghue’s credentials going forward.
