Sam McAuley Tralee branch chemist scoops top award

TRALEE Sam McCauley Pharmacist Brian Kearney is celebratin­g after winning the United Drug Community Pharmacist of the Year 2016 Award.

The fifth Irish Pharmacy Awards were held in Dublin late last month with over 600 pharmaceut­ical profession­als from across Ireland in attendance. The awards celebrate excellence in the Irish Pharmacy industry and are run by Irish Pharmacy News (IPN).

Since its opening in 2002, Sam McCauley Chemists in Tralee has catered for a large number of very diverse patients.

“There is no staff member more committed to the maintenanc­e and promotion of this standard of care than Brian Kearney,” said a Sam McCauley spokespers­on.

“Since his arrival, Brian has establishe­d himself as a firm favourite with both staff and patients. His unyielding dedication and passion for his work is evident to everyone. Brian is hugely popular within the local community and takes great pride in his role as a representa­tive of the store,” said the spokespers­on.

“He is a great leader and leads by example. He is a fantastic motivator and is a great source of support to his colleagues and for this reason he was recognised by the esteemed judging panel for this prestigiou­s title.”

The pharmacy team in Sam McCauleys Tralee also received a nomination for the Pharmacy Team of the Year Award.

“Brian was a thoroughly deserving winner who epitomises today’s community pharmacist at being the heart of the community and at the front line of healthcare provision,” said IPN MD Natalie Maginnis.
