CURROW maintained both their lead at the top of the tablet as well as their unbeaten start with a five point victory at home to Annascaul on Friday evening. Leading 0-3 to 0-1 after eight minutes, they dominated the next 15 scoring 1-61 without reply, Seamus Brosnan scoring their goal after a good set-up from John Buckley le with Annascaul needing goalkeeper Tommy Pierce to be at his best in preventing another two goals going in for the hosts. Niall McKenna did score three great points for the visitors before the break yet they still trailed by 1-9 to 0-4 at the break. Three Jason Hickson points at the start of the second period reduced the deficit to five for Annascaul and though Currow brought it back out to eight a Shane Foley goal from a penalty and an Alan Falvey effort had the difference at just four points between the sides.

Currow substitute­s John McMahon and Kevin O’Sullivan secured Currow’s 1-16 to 1-11 win with late points however as they travel away to Ardfert this weekend. The latter had a busy week with two games in the space of four days but they were two crucial ones as they got their first two wins in the campaign from them. The first one last Tuesday week was a high scoring affair away to St Pats as four goals saw them over the line in a 4-12 to 1-20 thriller in Blennervil­le. Cian Hussey and Darren Wallace scored the visitors’ goals in the first-half as both sides were level at 2-4 to 0-10 before Kevin Shanahan and Trevor Wallace found the back of the net in the second period to give them their narrow one point win after Kieran Hurley scored a penalty for St Pats as part of a 1-7 personal total on the night.
