Quarter-finals see Kilmoyley and Lixnaw meet
AFTER last weekend’s action, St. Brendan’s and Abbeydorney have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2016 Garvey’s Supervalu Kerry senior hurling championship.
The Ardfert side had an easy 3-19 to 1-16 win over Causeway while Abbeydorney had an unexpected 0-20 to 0-16 extra time win over reigning champions Kilmoyley. On the other hand both Crotta O’Neills and Ballyheigue exited the competition, going down to Lixnaw and Ballyduff respectively.
Round 3, where Lixnaw meet Kilmoyley and Causeway play Ballyduff, is fixed for the weekend of July 24. FIRST round results: Dr. Crokes 2-15 Lady’s Walk 1-4; Kilmoyley 2-19 Kenmare 2-11; St. Brendan’s 2-20 Abbeydorney 2-3 and Causeway 3-21 Crotta 1-7.
The semi-final draw is St. Brendan’s v Causeway and Dr. Crokes v Kilmoyley. Games to be played on Tuesday, July 19. KEANE’S SuperValu County Minor Hurling league round 2 results: Abbeydorney/Kilmoyley 3-10 Lixnaw 2-14; Causeway 3-12 Tralee Parnell’s 1-2. Back game for this Thursday, July 14, 7.30pm., St. Brendan’s v Crotta at Dromakee. PREPARATIONS are underway by the Kerry minor and under-21 hurlers for their forthcoming All-Ireland ‘B’ championship quarter-final fixtures.
The minors will play Kildare on Saturday, July 30 at Austin Stack Park while the under 21’s are at home to the All-Ireland ‘C’ competition winners on Saturday, August 6. THE 2016 Kellogg’s GAA Kerry hurling Cúl Camps continue on Monday next, 18th July with camps at both Ballyheigue and Kenmare.
These Cúl Camps are always an excellent week of hurling where children get an opportunity to improve on the skills they have already while also learning new skills from top class coaches.
Camps are open to both the experienced and the first time hurlers or camogie players. A loan of a hurley and helmet will be provided if necessary. Please visit www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa. ie/booking to book a child in online or alternatively a child can sign up on the first morning of the camp.
Cost is €55 per child with reductions for additional members of families.
Camps are open to primary school children between 6 and 13 years of age. Mondays to Fridays, 10am - 2.30pm daily.
Forthcoming Kerry camps are at Ardfert and Fitzgerald Stadium (25-29 July), Abbeydorney (1-5 August), Crotta O’Neill’s - Dromakee (8-12 August) and Kilmoyley & Tralee Parnells - Caherslee (15-19 August).
