› ŠKODA Ireland introduce 1.0TSI petrol engine delivering an incredible 115bhp

› ŠKODA is the first brand to launch this engine on this platform (MQB) in the Volkswagen Group

› First deliveries expected in the Octavia model this July

SKODA Ireland have announced that they will introduce a new 1.0TSI petrol engine in their Octavia model this July. Not only will this be the first time a three cylinder engine will be used in the Octavia; SKODA will be the first brand in the Volkswagen Group to launch this particular engine on the MQB platform. Turbo charging will result in a healthy 115bhp power output form this unit. Exact figures have yet to be confirmed however significant improvements in fuel efficiency and emission outputs are expected when compared to the outgoing 1.2TSI engine.

SKODA have an impressive history of being early adopters of low capacity, high output petrol engines with the introduction of their first 1.0 petrol engines in 1997. Following on from this, SKODA then introduced TSI (Turbo Stratified Injection) technology in 2009 with their 1.2TSI petrol engine.

Speaking today, John Burns, Dealer Principal, Burns Car Sales commented, “There is still a perception out there among motorists that engines need to be of a certain size in relation to the body size. Things have changed significantly in the last number of years. For example the new 1.0 TSI engine produces the same power output as the range topping 2.0 litre petrol engine that was fitted to the original Octavia back in 1998. The Octavia therefore develops the same power from an engine half the size!“

The complete range of 162 SKODA’s are now available to test drive at Burns Car Sales, the home of SKODA in Sligo. If you are in the market for a new car check out the amazing offers currently on the SKODA Range. Visit Burns Car Sales for a Test Drive in your SKODA model of choice.
