Pierse extends his Clubs of Kerry Road Race League lead

Patrick Galvin won the U-14s with Tadgh O’Shea of Currow second followed by Stefan Caulfield Drier from Killarney CC in third. Kanturk CC’s Ronan Leahy was 4th with Kingdom CC‘s Troy Kennedy and Faith Hilliard finishing in 5th and 6th.

Meanwhile, the Underage County Championsh­ips take place this weekend as part of the Kingdom Moda Round of the League. The action takes places in Cordal on Thursday night with sign-on in the Community Centre from 6pm. Racing gets underway at 6.30pm with the U-12s followed by the U-16s at 6.45 and the U-14s at 6.46pn. The seniors race in the League once the underage finish starting at approximat­ely 7.20pm.

The Senior County Championsh­ips will be held in Currow on Thursday August 18 starting at 7.30pm. CASTLEGREG­ORY rider Tom Moriarty performed exceptiona­lly well at the Errigal Internatio­nal Youth Tour in Donegal at the weekend, where he was the best placed Irish rider overall.

Moriarty, 14, rides for Kanturk Cycling Club and had a stormer of weekend on the hills of Donegal over four stages of tough racing with teams from England, South Africa, Malta, France and Belgium taking part as well as youths from all over Ireland.

On the first stage Moriarty finished in the bunch finish. The second stage was a time trial, where he came third, behind two English riders. Tom wore the green jersey for Stage 3 where he came second and in the final stage he finished safely in a bunch finish securing second place overall and was the first Irish rider in the General Classifica­tion.
