Local involvement in South Kerry win
CONGRATULATIONS to Paul O’Donoghue of St Marys, Cahirsiveen, on his recent captaining of the Kerry Junior footballers to All-Ireland final victory over Mayo.
Congratulations also to his Kerry Junior team mates from Iveragh – Fionán Clifford ( Waterville), Robert Wharton (Renard) and Niall O’Shea (Dromid Pearses) – all who were on the starting 15.
Meanwhile, congratulations also to the management and players of the South Kerry under 21 team, who went in as underdogs against Dingle in the Co, Under 21 final at Austin Stack Park last Tuesday, winning by 3-12 to12
Andy Quigley, who made an appearance as a substitute was Valentia’s sole representative. Captain Conor O’Shea of St Marys, Cahirsiveen, is the son of Joe O’Shea of Cahirsiveen and Ann O’Connor, originally of Ballymanach, Valentia.
Man-of-the-match Robbie Wharton of Renard had a busy and compact few days of football.
He won an All-Ireland with the Kerry Juniors on Saturday, August 6, played with his club Renard on the following day in a Co. League Div. 4 encounter versus Valentia, which Renard won, and on the following Tuesday was victorious in the aforementioned under 21 final.
Waterville’s Fionán Clifford did likewise with the juniors and under 21s, but his club did not play in the Co. League between both games.
